Roblox Platform Now Offers Creators New Ways to make Money

It was announced at the Roblox Developer Conference on Friday that Roblox would make a number of user-centric changes, including an update on Roblox usage, how much revenue creators can earn from their experiences, as well as a new communication system for users and a new way to sell products.

As a result, Roblox hopes to give users more money. Creators can optimize pricing inside their experiences in one of several ways. Price Optimization tool will be used to run tests to determine the best pricing strategy, and regional pricing will be experimented with. Other Roblox features include the ability to sell physical merchandise inside experiences. As with the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice partnership collaboration, where people could buy digital tickets through Fandango, everything was previously virtual.

The platform’s new affiliate program rewards creators for bringing new subscribers. The creator receives a portion of what a potential customer spends if he or she follows through with the link. Other similar programs allow people to set up unique links. Along with this, there will be a new pricing structure where creators will receive a higher revenue share (for instance, 70%) on $50 experiences.

During a follow-up interview with The Verge, Roblox CEO David Baszucki stated that all of this aims to expand the platform’s user base and the kind of content users can create. Baszucki believes that the platform will be able to support a wider range of content types going forward.

As part of the new “Party” system, players could communicate with friends via text or voice if they are nine and older. In spite of the fact that both services are expected to be available by the end of 2024, text chat will be launched first. As part of the rebranding, Roblox Groups will become Communities. Communities will offer forums that will allow more in-depth discussion than Groups, which are built on similar foundations, allowing players to connect over shared interests.

Apart from being a messaging app, Party enables you to share an experience with others. You just need to join a group with your friends and jump in. Roblox is also working on adding an API that will allow developers to do more with Party. Using Baszucki’s example, developers can take a Party and put it on a private server, or at the same save state as before.

Baszucki says that all of this is to help Roblox expand and reach its ultimate goal: having 10% of all gaming revenue “flow through the Roblox ecosystem and be distributed within our Roblox community” and reaching 300 million daily active users. According to Roblox, there were 79.5 million active daily users in June.
